Sinquerim Beach is a stunner! View from atop the Aguada Fort and you will see a long stretch of uninterrupted white sand fringed by palm trees opening into the glistening waters of the Arabian Sea. Sinquerim is at the southern rim of the rows of beaches in North Goa. Along with its beauty, what makes the beach popular is the wide range of facilities for water sporting.
The best time to visit Sinquerim is from November to March during which the lively festivals are held.
Getting To Sinquerim: Local buses ply from Panaji which is 13 kms away, and also from Calangute to the beach. Pre-paid taxis are also available from Panaji and Dabolim Airport which is just 37 kms away, while auto-rickshaws can be hired from the nearest railway station, Thivim, which is 20 kms away. But for getting around Goa, motorbikes are the best option.
Accommodation: To meet the lodging needs of the ever increasing travelers, there are large numbers of stay option close to the beach. The pricey Taj group of hotels like the Taj Fort Aguada, Taj Holiday Village Hotel, Taj Exotica and the Whispering Palm Beach Resort offer the best and most comfortable lodging facilities. Budget hotels are also available.
Attractions: Adrenaline junkies will be spoilt for choice here. The water is dotted with windsurfers and water skiers during the day but the most-tried water activity is bodysurfing as the waves are constant here. Facilities for fishing, scuba diving and para sailing are also available. You will get all the required equipment at the beach shops. Swimming is another favorite activity here. You will come across many busily building sand castles. If sports is not your thing, then you can simply take a walk along the beach and feel the water caressing your feet. However, the beach gets fairly crowded with tourists and vendors.
Remember to take time out to visit the Fort Aguada. This 17th century Portuguese fort is in itself a huge architectural marvel besides offering scenic views of the beach. The fort skirts the coastline and was intended to defend Goa from foreign attack.
If you are not an early riser and have missed the thrilling view of the sunrise, which the beach is famous for, stay on till dusk because the view of the sunset is as mesmerizing.
