Jama Masjid Tour

Jama Masjid, also identified as Masjid-i Jahan-Numa is positioned in India, Old Delhi. It is a beautiful place to visit and explore. So, if you are planning on your next trip, try India, really an incredible place to have fun and entertainment. Coming back to Jama Masjid, commissioned by the famous Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan, in 1644 CE, the mosque was finished in 1658 AD. Well! Jama Masjid is the biggest and very popular mosque of the country.

Situated at the busiest roads of Old Delhi, the Chawri Bazar Road, Jama Masjid is an orientation to the weekly Friday noon congregation prayers of Muslims, Jummah. The prayer is regularly chanted at a mosque, the ‘congregational mosque’ or ‘jami' masjid ‘. Jama Masjid can house around twenty-five thousand congregation at a time. The mosque also includes many artifacts in a closet in the north gate, comprising a historic replica of the Qur'an embossed on deer skin.

Jama Masjid, built after the hard work of seven years, was the effort of approximate 5,000 workers. The mosque shelters a rectangular courtyard, which is about 75m by 66m in size. Further, the western chamber of Jama Masjid is a big hall balanced on 260 pillars; all imprinted from Hindu as well as Jain traditions. And the central courtyard is reachable from the East. The entrance of eastern region takes us to another area having the mausoleum of Sultan Ahmed Shah. The backside of Jama Masjid is cased over to the elevation of the rock on which the mosque is positioned with huge hewn stones.

In addition, Emperor Shah Jahan constructed many mosques in states like Delhi, Ajmer, Agra and Lahore. This mosque of Delhi is similar to the Jama Masjid of Fatehpur Sikri close to Agra. However, Delhi’s Jama Masjid is the largest and the most impressive mosques than other mosques of Agra, Lahore and Ajmer. The Badshahi Mosque situated in Lahore, constructed by Aurangzed, Shah Jahan’s son is strongly associated to the Jama Masjid of Raipur.

The mosque is really arresting and exquisite; people from all over the world visit this holy place with pleasure. Also, the scenery from the mosque is very fascinating and gives a glimpse of earlier times. So, if you are working on your India trip, do visit this beautiful shrine and enjoy the ambience, here.
