Safdarjung's Tomb Tour

Delhi is an ideal attraction for those seeking information on the history of India. An exclusive blend of traditional and modern cultures, Delhi has a lot of ancient mausoleums, forts and temples, which takes us back centuries and centuries into the olden times. Amongst the major traditional sites to be traveled, Safdarjung's Tomb happens to be the best exemplar, which exhibits the distinctiveness of the Mughal architecture.

After the incredible Humayun's tomb, Safdarjung's Tomb is the other garden tomb, which reflects the splendor and charm of Mughal architecture. The tomb was constructed in the year 1753-54 to protect the remnants of his loving father, Safdarjung, commonly recognized as Mirza Muqim Abul Mansur Khan. Safdarjung, who was the viceroy of Awadh, under the great Emperor Mohammed Shah, later moved on to fulfill his wish of becoming a Prime Minister.

This amazingly designed tomb reflects the last stage of the Mughal style. This type of architecture follows the conventional Charbagh style in which the tomb is positioned in the centre of the garden. An enormous gate greets you into the striking Mughal gardens, which are very well preserved. The top floor of the structure shelters the Archaeological Survey of India. Further, the garden, in the style developed by the Mughal realm, which is now identified as the Mughal gardens style motivated by Persian gardens style, is entered through an elaborate entrance.

The front side is festooned with intricate plaster carvings. Also, flourishing green lawns and flora, with well maintained paths adorn the entrance to this superlative monument. Safdarjung with his loving wife, rest in peace in two graves in the tomb garden of the mausoleum. Several places of Delhi are named after Safdarjung's Tomb like Safdarjung Airport, Safdarjung Road, Safdarjung Terminal, Safdarjung Hospital, as well as localities like Safdarjung Enclave and Safdarjung Development Area.

The artistic mind behind the excellent and glorious Safdarjung's Tomb belongs to a talented Abyssinian architect. The splendor of this tomb lies in the lopsided architecture. So, if you want to dig deep into the terrific history of India then book yourself to India tours and catch the glimpse of this remarkable mausoleum.
