Chittorgarh Fort: It is the largest fort in India built in 7th century is comprised of historical importance; it is said the kings called Gahlot and Sisodia, the rulers of Mewar took it as their home that has been abandoned when Akbar overthrew and sieged it from them. It was mentioned that this fort was built by Mauryans and later raided by Alauddin Khilji for thrice between 15th and 16th century. The major attractions of the fort lie on the seven gigantic gates, two towers known as ‘Kirti Stambh’ symbol of fame and ‘Vijay Stambh’ symbolizing as victory tower. There are also several temples, reservoirs and palaces that are attractively fascinating.
Another famous fort of Rajasthan-historical commemoration is Jaisalmer Fort which is popularly known as ‘Golden Fort’ is a unique structure which throngs people from all over the world with its undying beauty. It has a historical importance going back to the 11th century and was built by Rajput ruler called Rawal Jaisal. Gopa Chowk the first gate is a huge one having stone paved passages. Hawarpool, the last gate of the Dussehra Chowk are all expressed marvel of artistic capabilities.
Among the various beauties inside the Jaisalmer fort is the Rajmahal fort; it was the palace for the kings to reside which ultimately transformed into Jaisalmer fort palace museum and heritage center.
Amber fort is worldly renowned one in Rajasthan situated in 11 kms away of Jaipur over a hillock sharing its boundary with reputed lake called Maota Lake. It was shaped up by Kacchwaha rulers with red sandstones in 15th century under the reign of Raja Man Singh, the then commander of Akbar’s army.
There are various other forts like Junagarh fort, Mehrangarh fort, Taragarh fort etc, having unique and different features showing certain types of architectural marvel along with rich histories and cultures.
